I live in Málaga, a city at the south of Spain, and right now we are in the middle of our “Feria”, also called August Fair, which is a period, a little over a week, from Friday 10th to Sunday 19th this year (it changes dates each year but it is always the second week of August) where we conmemorate the taking of the city by the Catholic Monarchs. You can read all about it here in the Wikipedia. There is a lot of partying, eating, drinking, dancing, and many of the local shops just close down for that week to enjoy it and because people just cease normal activities. Anyway, I don’t go that much now but I was a great fan of it in my twenties when we would go the Day Fair from 13h to 18 or so, then go back home, shower, change and go the Night Fair from Midnight until we ate churros in the morning at around 8. Wow, I just can’t keep up that rhythm any longer. But we do still go and have a fun time so I wanted to do a special Mani to show off and to show you here. Our flag is called “la verde y morá”, which means “the green and purple” with an andalusian accent so I went for those colours and included silver suns (because it is soo hot here in August) and silver hand-held fans because they are very typical of this month.
At long last I have managed to get some of the Capitol Colors Collection from China Glaze, I have had so many problems to get these. There are not all mine, only two, because the other three were for a couple of Twitter friends who asked me to get them for me, ArmeCaso and Jillian. I first tried to get through ebay, then Amazon and had several problems with them both so I ended up buying them in Maquillalia even though they were a bit more expensive (6’10€) but not that much more and it was worth it. Want to see them? After the break.
Well I must admit that I am pretty much in love with nearly half of the Holland Collection from OPI, it is just gorgeous, have you seen them? You can see swatches of all of them in Scrangie’s and you can see some of them here in my blog also because I bought the mini bottles collection. But I so like the others I don’t have. Specially OPI Gouda Gouda Two Shoes. I love the subtle gold shimmers they have included in many of these. The thing is, it is a bit expensive to buy, they have them here in Spanish shops like Primor for 15€. Auch. Nope. But I did manage to find one similar, Essie All Tied Up. Come on in and have a look.
I really wanted to do this konadicure for some time. My friend Crisese managed to buy me this Konad nail plate M66 in the Primor shop at Rincón de la Victoria and I knew it just had to look incredible over the Kiko 388 that my friend Vanessa gave me as a present at work. So I finally managed to get time to put these two beauties together and here was what I got. Do you like it? I couldn’t resist and just had to add some extra white Butterflies. By the way, this silver nail polish I use for stamping is just great, I am so happy I got it because it leaves always a very crisp design. You can get it from eBay.
This past summer my boyfriend and I went on vacation to Nerja and there I bought two really nice polishes from the Summer collections of Essence. Today I am going to show you one of them, it’s Essence 50’s Girls Reloaded – 01 Ahoy! I really needed a white to be able to konad on top of it so I thought this might be perfect for what I wanted.
Please forgive me but I am soo bad at naming Manicures, I just end up putting a very descriptive name and that’s it so I hope they are pretty enough that you do not that into account. Oh after the various things I tried in my last post, I liked this one the best so I decided I’d do that on my whole hand. You didn’t think I was going to go out with that mess on my hands did you? Hit Read more to see the pictures of the full hands.
And there comes a moment in all polish lover’s life when we have no option but to throw away our dear polish children because they dry up and there is no way to revive them. Yeah, that happened to me this year and I had been posponing this for ages. But it was rather absurd, I had polishes there from when I was a teenager and they were reaaaaally dry some of them. So I opened all, checked them and tearfully threw nearly half! But I took pictures of them before so I could remember them for ever. Want to see them? Keep reading.
The First official Manicure Meeting at my house was the 6th of August of this year. We got together Hierbabuena, Crisese and me. We wanted to try all we could to try and practice this new hobby. And boy did we practice, we changed designs on every nail. But please don’t take into account all the polish outside of the nails, we weren’t that good yet at painting the nails and we were definetely not cleaning up after as we should. Keep reading and I’ll show you all the cute designs we did, careful because this post is picture heavy!
